Krystal - Animation and Digital Art

On Wednesday we as a class did Digital Art. We did something easy for to start off. My teacher said we can do more hard things later on. We started off with tracing a dog. We learnt from slides. It gave us instructions for what to start with. The first part was to look for easy photos of dogs. Then once we found a dog we start with the big parts, then do more detail after. Here is my activity below!

Krystal - Screenshots

Today in Cybersmart/class I did the third challenge for Cybersmart. This one is about screenshots. We do Cybersmart because we learn about our netbooks and what to do. Something I found difficult was going to each site. I really enjoyed doing this activity because I like taking screenshots. I learnt that when you do a blog about all of your school site/class blog or anything else, it makes people want to go on it and read about it. One tip about a screenshot is make sure for your work to be in frame. Here is my activity below!

Krystal - Making a Bookmark

Today in class we made bookmarks. We all made different ones. I made a simple one because I didn't know what to put on and I don't really like art. We did this so that when we read our books and we forget, we can just put it on and remember it when we read it again. I liked making it, I didn't like folding it. Also if you want to learn how to make it here is the video. Here is my activity below!

Rawiri Waititi ejected from Parliament/Venn Diagram

Earlier today in my class meeting, we were doing a google drawing about a necktie and a pounamu. We were writing about this because recently Rawiri Waititi was ejected from Parliament for wearing a pounamu. To read more about that check it out on my blog. To find out more about this read down below!

In this article written by RNZ is about Rawiri Waititi getting ejected from the Parliament because he was wearing a Maori taonga around his neck and not a proper business tie. The main people in this article are Rawiri Waititi and Trevor Mallard. Rawiri Waititi is a man that is a co-leader from the Maori Party. Rawiri and Trevor also argued about the disagreements between wearing different cultural ties.

The key event from this article is about Rawiri Waititi. Last year in 2020 some people in the Parliament agreed that there should not be any cultural ties in the debating chamber, and some disagreed. This event took place in Wellington at the Beehive, in the New Zealand Parliament Building. This event took place on January 1st 2021.

In this news article Rawiri Waititi was kicked out of the Parliament and to never be seen in the debating chamber again. Rawiri said "Our people have worn these types of ties for generations, thousands of years. And it's time that Parliament, which was consented by my ancestors through Te Tiriti o Waitangi, recognised our right and freedom to express our own cultural identity, in a place that's supposed to be a place for democracy,"

Trevor Mallard and Rawiri Waititi argued in the debating chamber. This event took place because the Parliament wanted to discuss new laws around New Zealand. The day before the meeting a person asked Rawiri “What tie are you going to wear tomorrow?” Rawiri replied “You’ll have to wait until tomorrow.”

In my own opinion I think that they should allow wearing any ties, like in the meeting there was a Mexican guy whose name is Ricardo Menendez and he said “I have worn this tie in a lot of meetings and I have never been told to take it off and wear a business tie”. At that moment I straight away thought that Speaker Trevor Mallard was kind of being racist, about Rawiri Waititi having to wear a Maori tie around his neck. In my mind I thought he was being kind of racist because Rawiri Waititi was wearing a pounamu around his neck, but according to the Parliament laws you have to wear a business tie. That’s why they should allow wearing any ties.

Spending Time with Family

During the summer holidays, my family and I went to a farm called Anbury Farm. First we made a lot of food like potato salad, teriyaki chicken, chop suey and more. We also made some Tongan Otai. Second we packed all the food, silverware and tables. On the way to the farm my mum’s car broke down, so my mum called my uncle to come and pick us up. Finally my uncle came so then we had to unpack EVERYTHING and put it in his car. After all that struggle putting everything in his car, half an hour later we made it to the farm.

When we arrived there we set up our big tent, then put up the tables and then lastly we put the food and silverware on the table. Then after setting it up the older people played Volleyball and the younger kids played Soccer. Finally we stopped playing in the burning sun because it started raining. When we all went into the tent it almost got flooded with water, so then we all had to rush out to clear all the water. While it was still raining we sat in the tent and sang songs.

Finally the rain stopped pouring down, so then we decided to play touch, a bit more volleyball, soccer and baseball. When we were playing some of my cousin’s came, so then a few minutes later we started to pack up and go. Suddenly the rain started pouring again, so we had hurry up and pack fast. We finished packing up everything and went to Rainbows End. We arrived to Rainbows End, but the line to go in was so LONG!! After WAITING in line for half an hour we finally could pay and go in.

Then we brought all of the stuff in and set it down near the kids kingdom place. Next we finished unpacking all of the stuff and went to the rides. First my sisters and I went on the Bumper Cars. The Bumper Cars were really fun because I could bump my sisters and other people. Then they forced me to go on the Rollercoaster which I have never been on. After going on the Rollercoaster, I thought I was NEVER going to go on that ever again. It was so terrifying.

Then after that they FORCED me again, but to go on the Invader. I hadn’t been on the Invader in a while. The Invader is the one where its looks like an alien spaceship and spins around while going up and down. Invader wasn’t bad I thought it was… AMAZING!! I felt like I was flying but I was also a little dizzy on the ride. Our very last ride was GOLD RUSH!! The Gold Rush is my favourite ride so I was happy to go on it. It has been a long time since I've been on it so I wasn’t quite used to the bumps and stuff. It was still fun.

Then after we had to go back and pack everything and go home. After a long time of packing AGAIN we finished and said bye to everyone then went home.

I really hope you liked reading my story about my holiday. Thank you for reading.

Last week Friday we had Footsteps, but it was Footsteps Drama. Last week we played Five to Zero, Clap 1

Reversibility and Place Value - Mele and Krystal

Today in Math we are learning to solve addition and subtraction using reversibility and place value.
Mele and I had to use screencastify and video our work.

Place Value: In Maths place value is used to separate numbers and figure out the answer.

Reversibility: When you are using reversibility, you have to reverse the multiplication equation and make it into a division problem

Watch my video below to find out how to do reversibility and place value!
