Krystal - Pablo Piccaso Art - Cubism Final Drawing

Yesterday, the 30th of March Te Wairua Pakiki 4 (TWP4) did some art that is based on Pablo Picasso's cubism art. Cubism is when you can play around with other and lots of shapes. Like your eyes, nose, mouth, ears and many more can be in different places. Your nose could be sideways and your ears can be lower on your face. We also did two practice drawings before doing our final drawing. Something I found interesting about Pablo. Pablo Picasso completed his first painting when he was nine years old. The title of the painting was Le Picador. Something I found interesting was drawing different shapes and in different shapes. For this picture I wanted to focus on having fun and embrace drawing. Here is my final drawing!

Krystal - Journey Through Holy Week 2021

This week is a very special week for us here at St. Pius X Catholic School. This week is Holy Week. The Holy Week days are Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday. These weeks are important to us catholics, because this week where all of the events happened to Jesus.

Let us walk through his journey, and ask him to help us with our journey in life.

There are eight events that we recognise leading up to Jesus’ crucifixion.

Station 1 is Palm Sunday and it’s symbols are leaves and a candle that we put onto the cross. We use these symbols, because when Jesus was entering Jerusalem on a donkey, people started waving palms and singing Hosanna to welcome Jesus.

Station 2 : WASHING OF THE FEET. Bowl of water and a towel at this station - candle. On Jesus’ way inside of Jerusalem he stopped at a place. Where all of the disciples were. We use these symbols because, Jesus was washing the feet of the disciples.

Station 3: LAST SUPPER - THE EUCHARIST. The bread and wine with a candle. Jesus invited the disciples to come and eat with him, because it was going to be his last supper. While they were eating Jesus said “Take this and eat of it, for this is my body and blood.” We use the bread and wine because, it is the blood of Jesus. The bread is the body of Jesus. Jesus gave his blood and body (bread and wine) to his disciples for them to remember him.

Station 4 : Garden of Gethsemane. Few plants - Jesus praying. - candle. Jesus went to his father and prayed. “My Father if it is possible for this cup to be taken away from me, Yet not as I will, but as you will.” Jesus prayed to God three times asking him the same thing. Jesus praying is a symbol because, he always went to God for help. You need to explain why we use these symbols

Station 5:  The Journey to Calvary. Symbol - Crucifix, candle , Crown of thorn. Jesus was walking, He fell three times. On the way he meets His mother Mary was sad and miserable, but Jesus was happy to see that his mother was there. We celebrate this symbol because, The crucifix is the symbol of when Jesus was carrying the cross for our sins.

Station 6:  The Journey to Calvary - Simon helped Jesus. Symbol - Crucifix, candle. While Jesus was walking along the way of the stations. Jesus met Simon, and Simon offered to help Jesus carry the cross to Veronica. Jesus was carrying the cross with thorns on his head. While his thorns were on Jesus’ head the heavy cross that he was carrying was hitting the thorns. Crucifix is when Jesus was crucified on the cross for our sins.

Station 7:  The Journey to Calvary - Veronica wiped the face of Jesus. Symbol - cloth, candle. Jesus stopped at Veronica, so that he could say his words to Veronica. When he stopped walking, Veronica wiped his face with a cloth. When he handed it back it imprinted a photo of his face. The cloth is a symbol of Veronica wiping Jesus’ face.

Station 8 : GOOD FRIDAY - Jesus Dies on the Cross. Symbol:  Crucifix. This symbol is when Jesus’ reached the end of his journey. Jesus carried the cross all the way to the end. He fell three times and still managed to get back up. Jesus’ mother was sorrowful that her son was suffering.

For the second activity something I found easy was What Goes Together?. I had to do the opposites but put an arrow to where each opposite goes with the other opposite word. Something I found hard for the first activity was At the Beginning. I had to put sentences together but in the right order. Something I found hard for the second activity was nothing it was easy. Here are my activities below!

Birds, small reptiles and mammals were alive 65 million years ago to 144 million years ago. Which was a VERY long time ago. Dinosaurs were here 144 million years ago to 208 million years ago. Triassic reptiles, amphibians and ammonites were here 208 million years ago and disappeared 248 million years ago. Here is my activity.

Krystal - Gender Ground Rules

Today since International Women's Day, wasn't too far long ago. Our class Te Wairua Pakiki 4 (TWP4), did an activity on Gender Ground Rules. We read a comic, in this comic there was a girl that believed that boys are better at maths and science, where as girls are better at writing and reading. I don't believe that because, we are equal we should all be great at something. Like teach if a man is teaching one class and a women is teaching another class, the man will earn more amount of money by doing the same job. This comic is just telling us about girls and why they should be treated the same. I did a Venn Diagram On Katherine Johnson and Maryam Mirzakhani. I did their differences and what they have in common. I also made a poster about encouraging girls to stand up, and to not be afraid. Here is the comic. Here are my activity's!

My soul friends are Athena and Ava. One thing I know about Athena is that she is Samoan. One thing I know about Ava is she likes to eat McDonald's. Our school had a soul friends shared lunch after mass. My soul friend Athena made this for me.

Soul Friends are like people who are they when they are in need. We Te Wairua Pakiki 4 (TWP4) are partnered up with Takiritia 1. My soul friends are Ava and Athena. St Patrick is a patron saint, because of the Irish people and The Holy Faith Sisters. Here is my activity!

Krystal - America's Cup

Today in class, we wrote about the America's Cup. We read about this article on Kiwi Kids News. The America's Cup race was yesterday. The teams were Team New Zealand and Luna Rossa (Italy). We made a google drawing and wrote what happened yesterday. They both tied 1-1 Team New Zealand won the first round and Luna Rossa won the second round. Here is my activity below!

The America’s Cup

In this article America’s Cup begins on Kiwi Kids News. We also watched a video. The main people or group are Team New Zealand, Luna Rossa ,Italy, Team Italian Captain Jimmy Spithill. The key event from this article is The Team New Zealand versus Team Luna Rossa. They were racing for the America’s Cup. This event took place at The Waitemata Harbour. This event took place on Wednesday March 10th 2021. A quote from the main person in this article is "It's not over. It's a long way from over". Jimmy Spithill said. I describe what happened in this news article are in the first 31 seconds, Team New Zealand started off with a good start. Team Luna Rossa caught up with Team New Zealand. They won by 7 seconds. Both of the teams are tied 1-1. This event took place at the New Zealand, Auckland Waitēmata Harbour. Waitēmata Harbour is in the North Island. It opens into Hauraki Gulf (east) through Stanley Bay. What might happen in the future I think that they will both be good teams and they both do have a good chance at winning so far. This event happens every four years. This event is about sailing and winning but also having fun. There are 13 races all together in this competition. They win a trophy at the end of all 13 races if they win against all the other teams. This year my class and I are rooting for Team New Zealand.

Something I found hard was looking up places for the holiday of visiting New Zealand. Here are my activities!
