Krystal - Seeking True Satisfaction

Today for Religious Education (RE), I read a story about St. Matthew. Today is the Feast Day of St. Matthew. At first St. Matthew was a sinner and tax collector, but then Jesus came along. Jesus told Matthew to turn to God. Jesus told Matthew all about God. I answered some questioned that I was given by my teacher. “Why does your teacher eat with tax collectors and sinners?” He heard this and said, “Those who are well do not need a physician, but the sick do. Go and learn the meaning of the words, I desire mercy, not sacrifice. I did not come to call the righteous but sinners.” Matthew 9:11–13

 Today for Religious Education (RE), I watched a video about The Good Samaritan.  I worked with my sister to help me with some of my work. I had to connect the beatitudes with what happened in the story. Here is my activity!

Krystal - The Feast of the Birth of Mother Mary

Today for Religious Education (RE), I did an activity about our Mother Mary. I had to answer four questions. I also had to read a lot of paragraphs and watch a video. I also did a quiz about Mary. Did you know that today is the day that we celebrate Mother Mary's birthday? “Joseph, son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary your wife into your home. For it is through the Holy Spirit that this child has been conceived in her. She will bear a son and you are to name him Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins.” Matthew 1:20–21

Krystal - Perceiving the Intentions of Others

Today for Religious Education (RE), I read a story and watched a video of how Jesus knew everyone's intentions. This story is called Perceiving the Intentions of Others. For my activity, I had to answer six questions about the reading. I had to do this with a family member, so I did this with my older sister. Jesus knew that the scribes and the Pharisee's intentions were bad, so he tried to prove to them that he was good. The scribes and the Pharisee's tried, but they failed. My favourite line from this reading was "Know that Jesus knows your heart, and he wants you also to see clearly through those things hidden in your heart." Here is my activity!

Today for Religious Education, I have done a matching the sentences activity. This one is about the Apostles. Paul spread the good news into more distant places, starting from Antioch in Syria. Here is my activity!

 Today for Religious Education (RE), I did an activity about "Life among the Believers." I read Acts 2:43-47 scripture. In this activity, I had to write a small paragraph about what I read. Then I had to create a Storyboard, about the main things that happened in the story. Here is my activity!

Krystal - Match the sentences

Today for Religious Education (RE), we found out a lot of information/facts about life in the early church. I had to match the sentences with another. I watched a video to find out some information about the life in the early church. I found out was that the first Christians sold their possessions, and shared the proceeds with the community. I also learned that the early Christians were persecuted by Jews, who wanted to get rid of Jesus’ followers. Besides teaching the early Christians often, healed people and performed miracles. Krystal - The Sacred Heart of Jesus Mass

 On Friday earlier this we, St Pius X School had a mass for the Sacred Heart of Jesus. The Sacred Heart of Jesus is important because, it teaches us to love one another. Here are some sentences Father Felise said, Jesus asks us to "not be afraid, I will return from my father and bring you to Heaven"

Krystal - Matching column a and column b & Jesus' Ascension

Today in RE, we were doing some work on Jesus' Ascension. We had an activity to match columns. There were sentences that we had to match in column a and put it together with the column b. We also had to create a storyboard of the main things that we had in the columns. Here is my activity!

Matching column a with column b/ Jesus’ Ascension

• Jesus entered Jerusalem on a donkey, 50 days before Ascension day.
• On Thursday of the week that followed Palm Sunday, Jesus had his last meal with his apostles.
• The day after his last supper Jesus was put to death on a cross on Calvary Hill.
• Jesus lay in a tomb for 3 days and then God raised him up.
• After his resurrection Jesus showed himself to his friends and some of them did not recognise him.
• He spent time with his apostles and told them he was going to return to his Father.
• 50 days after Palm Sunday Jesus was taken by God to share his glory in heaven.
• Because Jesus entered heaven in glory he made it possible for his followers to do the same. 

Krystal - DLO About Jesus' Ascension

Today we Te Wairua Pakiki, did some Religious Education (RE). In our group we discussed what happened on the Ascension Day. We also had a reflection of what Jesus told us to do. We also did a prayer. Here is my activity!

Today in Religious Education (RE), we were doing some work on the Ascension Day. The year 5 and 6's had a separate activity to the year 7 and 8's. Krystal - Graffiti Page about St Mary

 Today in Te Wairua Pakiki (TWP), we were separated into groups. In my group there was David, Achilles, Esau, Leitupo, Elijah, Amihuti, Mrs. Palu and Maraia. We had to figure out a name of a saint for our whanau. Our whanau name is St Mary. We did a little graffiti page about St Mary. Graffiti means to put keywords or anything related to that thing/person. Here is my groups graffiti page! 

Krystal - Journey Through Holy Week 2021

 This week is a very special week for us here at St. Pius X Catholic School. This week is Holy Week. The Holy Week days are Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Holy Saturday and Easter Sunday. These weeks are important to us catholics, because this week where all of the events happened to Jesus. 

Let us walk through his journey, and ask him to help us with our journey in life. 

There are eight events that we recognise leading up to Jesus’ crucifixion. 

Station 1 is Palm Sunday and it’s symbols are leaves and a candle that we put onto the cross. We use these symbols, because when Jesus was entering Jerusalem on a donkey, people started waving palms and singing Hosanna to welcome Jesus. 

Station 2 : WASHING OF THE FEET. Bowl of water and a towel at this station - candle. On Jesus’ way inside of Jerusalem he stopped at a place. Where all of the disciples were. We use these symbols because, Jesus was washing the feet of the disciples. 

Station 3: LAST SUPPER - THE EUCHARIST. The bread and wine with a candle. Jesus invited the disciples to come and eat with him, because it was going to be his last supper. While they were eating Jesus said “Take this and eat of it, for this is my body and blood.” We use the bread and wine because, it is the blood of Jesus. The bread is the body of Jesus. Jesus gave his blood and body (bread and wine) to his disciples for them to remember him. 

Station 4 : Garden of Gethsemane. Few plants - Jesus praying. - candle. Jesus went to his father and prayed. “My Father if it is possible for this cup to be taken away from me, Yet not as I will, but as you will.” Jesus prayed to God three times asking him the same thing. Jesus praying is a symbol because, he always went to God for help. You need to explain why we use these symbols

Station 5:  The Journey to Calvary. Symbol - Crucifix, candle , Crown of thorn. Jesus was walking, He fell three times. On the way he meets His mother Mary was sad and miserable, but Jesus was happy to see that his mother was there. We celebrate this symbol because, The crucifix is the symbol of when Jesus was carrying the cross for our sins. 

Station 6:  The Journey to Calvary - Simon helped Jesus. Symbol - Crucifix, candle. While Jesus was walking along the way of the stations. Jesus met Simon, and Simon offered to help Jesus carry the cross to Veronica. Jesus was carrying the cross with thorns on his head. While his thorns were on Jesus’ head the heavy cross that he was carrying was hitting the thorns. Crucifix is when Jesus was crucified on the cross for our sins. 

Station 7:  The Journey to Calvary - Veronica wiped the face of Jesus. Symbol - cloth, candle. Jesus stopped at Veronica, so that he could say his words to Veronica. When he stopped walking, Veronica wiped his face with a cloth. When he handed it back it imprinted a photo of his face. The cloth is a symbol of Veronica wiping Jesus’ face. 

Station 8 : GOOD FRIDAY - Jesus Dies on the Cross. Symbol:  Crucifix. This symbol is when Jesus’ reached the end of his journey. Jesus carried the cross all the way to the end. He fell three times and still managed to get back up. Jesus’ mother was sorrowful that her son was suffering.

Today in RE we were reading scriptures about Mary. We had to write what it says in the scripture but not word for word. Check down below to read!

 Luke 2:1 - 20 The Birth of Jesus

In this scripture Luke 2:1 - 20 The Birth of Jesus, it’s telling us about how Caesar Augustus issued a decree to take over the Roman world. Then Joseph went to Judea, from the town in Nazareth in Galilee, he then went to Bethlehem. Joseph went there to register with Mary, to be married, because Mary was expecting a baby. While they were still there Mary felt that the baby was coming. Then in seconds he came. This baby was her first born. Mary wrapped him in clothes and put him in a manger. There was no guest room for them to lay the baby down. 

We know this because when Jesus was born he was put in a manger. Mary also introduced Jesus to Joseph. After that there were very happy that they had a baby.

Lastly Mary always trusted the Holy Spirit because of what The Angel Gabriel said. The shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things they had heard and seen, which were just as they had been told.

 Today our class made a DLO about saints. We could pick whatever saint with our birth date. I chose St Peter. Here is my work.
