Krystal - Tutawa Mai

Today for Māori, I learnt a karakia. It is called Tutawa Mai. I had to screencastify myself doing the actions to it. It wasn't really that hard learning the actions. My class and I learnt this karakia before lockdown. Here is my screencastify!

Krystal - Tōku Whakapapa

Today for Maori, we had to introduce our family members. Basically it is like a family tree, but saying it in Maori. Here is my screencastify!

Māmā/Whaea - Mother
Pāpā/Matua - Father
Koro/Koroua - Grandfather
Kūia - Grandmother
Tuākana - Older sibling (of the same gender)
Teina - Younger sibling (of the same gender)
Tungāne - Brother (opposite gender)
Tuahine - Sister (opposite gender)

Krystal - The Māori Alphabet

Today we did some more of Māori. We remembered the letters of the Māori alphabet. We had to colour in the letters that were in the Māori alphabet. We also did a game called Memrise. It has many languages you can do. We did the Māori language. There were a lot of words that I learnt from that game, like Tuakana means a older sibling of the same gender. Krystal - Te Reo Māori

Today Te Wairua Pakiki 4 (TWP4) did some Te Reo Māori. We jogged our memories of some words. We also learnt a song of the Māori alphabet. The Māori alphabet (arapū) is made up of eight consonants, five vowels and two digraghs. The two digraphs are ng and wh. Orokati is the meaning of consonants, and Oropūare is the meaning of the vowels (a,e,i,o,u). The macron on top of the letters is pronounced dragged. Krystal - How Māui slowed the Sun

 Today I finished of my art. We watched a story of how Māui slowed the sun by Peter Gossage.  After we watched the video our teacher made us watch another video of weaving, on paper. After we learnt how to weave we had to pick two colours of six. The colours were red, orange, white and orange-ish. Then our teacher gave us all a part of the story, then draw it on our paper. After we drew a part of the story we had to outline with a vivid. Here is the story. Here is my picture.

 

Krystal - The Legend of Kahukura

Today I finally finished doing one of my homework. I did an activity on a legend called "Kahukura". I read a story about him and what he is the god of. Kahukura is the God of Rainbows and Devilry. If you want to know more about him and what he is, read below!
